Modes de représentation du réel dans le cinéma et l'audio-visuel de non-fiction

The documentary form serves as a counterpoint to my analysis of television: the documentary is not a piece of merchandise, it does not enter into the logic of commerce. The documentary does not simplify or reduce meaning, but rather makes our understanding of the world more complex. The documentary involves complicity between what is filmed and the filmmaker and his or her point of view about the subject. In its narration, the documentary favours the spectator at the cost of the spectacular. In a word, the documentary implies a system of ethics.
