Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The authors state that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.
  • The submission must not have been published previously, nor sent to any other journal (or an explanation must be provided in “Comments to the editor”).
  • The Annex Document (First Page) it has been downloaded and filled, and it will be uploaded along with the manuscript and others.
  • The text must meet the stylistic and bibliographic prerequisites established in the "Submission" section. The text must be single-spaced, using a 12-point font, and must apply italics instead of underlining (except for URL addresses).  All of the illustrations, figures and tables must be placed in the appropriate position within the text, not at the end of the text.

Original submissions sent via email will not be accepted. Registration and login in OJS are required to proceed with submissions.

All originals must be sent in two separate files: an anonymised text of the article, called manuscript file, and a supplementary file with the authorship information, called first page (download here and see below for more information).

Blind Peer Review Policy

All the articles in the journal are evaluated by at least two experts using the blind peer-review system.

As a result of this evaluation, the originals may be:

  • Accepted for publication without any changes,
  • Accepted conditional to the incorporation of the changes proposed by the evaluators.  If the changes proposed are important, the article may require a second evaluation,
  • Determined not to be of publication value.

Initially, the Editorial Board and the guest editors for the issue evaluates the originals to establish that they meet the minimum requirements regarding quality, meet the formal requirements, and conform to the topical area of the journal.

The Editorial Committee will write to authors confirming the reception of the originals. Within three months of receiving the article, authors will be sent any comments and suggestions for improvement and will be informed of the Committee’s decision concerning publication.

Instructions for authors

Tripodos accepts only original articles which are not under consideration by another publication at the time of submission.

The journal only accepts articles written in English.Settings

Each author can only send a maximum of one article per year.

The texts must have a maximum of 4 authors.

Articles should not exceed 7000 words in length (including the text, the references and the notes), should be written as clearly and concisely as possible. 

Documents can only be sent in .doc or .docx format.

In order to submit original papers, authors must be registered at the journal as authors. Following this step, authors must enter their user name and password, activated in the process of registering, and begin the submission process. In step 1, they must select the section Monograph or Fundamentals.

Tripodos accepts original articles and research of the topic of the currently open CFPs for the Monograph section and any topic with regard to any discipline related to the world of communication for the Fundamentals section. 

The manuscript file should contain:

  • title of the article,
  • abstract (200 words, in English and in a second language, preferably Spanish or Catalan),
  • keywords (up to 5, in English and in a second language, preferably Spanish or Catalan),
  • full article text,
  • funding sources declaration (if needed), and
  • bibliography or references

Manuscript file will be uploaded as a article text.

For blind reviewing purposes, the manuscript must not contain any reference (name, filiations, research projects codes...) which allows identify the author. Personal information must be also removed from file properties. To do that,  you can follow: File --> Save As --> Tools (or Options in Mac) --> Security --> Remove personal information from file properties on save --> Save.

Manuscripts may include images, graphics, tables and figures. This material should be in the place in the text where table and figures are to appear. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions from copyright holders for reproducing any illustrations, tables or figures.

The author/s must be sure that these elements have a minimum quality for its publication. Also it might be possible that the Editorial Team asks the author to send the images, tables or figures separately.

Footnotes (no endnotes) are accepted but use them as less as possible.

The first page (download here) should contain:

  • title of the article,
  • abstract (200 words, in English and in a second language, preferably Spanish or Catalan),
  • keywords (up to 5, in English and in a second language, preferably Spanish or Catalan),
  • full name of each author with
    • current affiliation,
    • country,
    • e-mail address,
    • ORCID ID, and
  • academic profile(s) of the author(s) of 200 words, 
  • funding sources declaration
  • AI declaration

First page file will be uploaded as a supplementary file in the same time and place of the manuscript.

Citation Style

A slightly modified APA-7 system should be used for bibliographical references, as can be seen in the examples below (Tripodos request according to our gender edition criteria):

  • In the final list of references, references should be quoted by the author(s)'s family name(s) followed by a comma and the given name(s), not just their initial.
  • In the in-text citations, where the author’s name is included in the text, references should be quoted by the given name(s) followed by the family name(s), and only the family name is used when cited in brackets.

Bibliography references should be listed at the end of the article in alphabetical order. When more than one work by the same author is cited, the most recent one should be listed first.

The author must provide the DOI or the URL for references whenever possible.

References should be presented in the following standard form:

Tripodos also accepts original articles and research of any topic that are interesting and relevant of any discipline related to the world of communication at the “Fundamentals” section. This section is open anytime for submissions. 

Copyright Notice

Once an article has been approved for publication in Tripodos, the exclusive right to publish the work becomes property of Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations of Ramon Llull University.  These rights can be granted to a third party with the agreement of the author(s).

Authors will retain their copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication of their work, which will simultaneously be subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This allows users to share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format, as well as remix, transform, and build upon it, provided that proper credit is given (journal, author, URL/DOI) and it is not used for commercial purposes.

The submission of articles is understood to represent explicit consent to these conditions of publication.
