Introducció. Public relations in an international context

Abstract

In dealing with public relations, we usually think of it as a diverse and complex activity. In fact, it is complex and thus not easy to explain. As we began to define this special issue, we thought we would encounter difficulty finding scholars who understood the concept and perspective, and who would want to take part. Fortunately, this was not the case. In fact, the reflections you have in your hands support the general idea that the management of relationships makes the world more interconnected and more interesting for those who inhabit it. “Global Public Relations in a changing world” is a title that signifies more than just a conjunction of points of views. It attempts to explain the evolution that international public relations has undergone.

En parlar de relacions públiques, normalment pensem que és una activitat professional diversa i complexa. De fet, de complexa ho és, i, per tant, no fàcil d’explicar. Quan vam començar a definir aquest número especial vam pensar que podria haver-hi problemes a trobar professors que n’entenguessin el concepte i perspectiva i que en volguessin formar part, cosa que, afortunadament, no ha ocorregut. De fet, les reflexions que teniu a les mans sostenen la idea general que la gestió de les relacions ajuden a fer del nostre món un món més interconnectat i interessant per a les persones que l’habitem. Des de la perspectiva de les relacions públiques globals en un món canviant, en aquest monogràfic, es pretén abastar, més que la simple conjunció de punts de vista, l’explicació de l’evolució que han anat prenent les relacions públiques a nivell internacional.
